Excellent Weekend at a Special Event Station – GB1RNLI

Lifeboat Station What an excellent weekend we had taking part in GB1RNLI Рat Worksop Amateur Radio Society. This Special Event Radio Station had been extremely well organised by a number of the Club members, however I am sure the driving force was Steve G0EAK.

Worksop Amateur Radio Society, which is fortunate to have its own building (leasehold), had setup four Radios, covering UHF/VHF, HF, CW and DATA. The club is currently carrying out some refurbishment of the inside of the build as you will see in some pictures.

The club had a good amount of food both hot and cold on sale over the weekend with all proceeds going to the RNLI, we sampled this a number of times and it was very very good. The building was a hive of Amateur Radio activity, it was great to see one of the many female members of he club doing a first class job handling, a pile up on HF.

The CW operators of which the club has a number of very skill ones, were busy all the time, making many many QSOs.

One question you may be asking is for a club which is some far inland what made them support the RNLI ? Well I asked the question. The answer came back, that the RNLI do such a great job, and you never know as most of us spend some time at the sea side or on the sea we just might need them one day.

It was well worth visiting the event and we look forward to next years. Radio Operators
