I didn’t need much arm twisting to visit the 18TH RED ROSE QRP FESTIVAL – Formby Hall, in Manchester. I hadn’t been to this Amateur Radio Rally, before however being fond of Working QRP, I had every hope that it would be worth while.
We headed of from Sheffield on a bright and Sunny morning, when I think almost everyone else was going to visit the Tour De France, with Road Closures we had to use the M62 route over.
When we arrived at the Rally there was the usual queue at the Door, we were welcomed by a very friendly chap, who was working down the line taking money and giving out programmes.
On entering the hall, the main room was bright and full but not overcrowded, there were plenty of stalls with both items on tables and my favorite boxes to rummage around in to find that bargain, off to the left was another slightly smaller hall also full, there were no big players at this Rally, however it was nice to see some old friends.
There was lots of used equipment, some excellent resources for building, and a number of information stands.
The icing on the cake, so to speak was the food, no Rally is complete with out good food and this was no exception, great food at bargain prices.
Did I find that bargain ? You bet and for only a £1, what was it. Well that I am sure will be another post.
